GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Chamber of Commerce will continue its tradition of hosting the Back to the Bricks Roll On In party to celebrate the kickoff of the annual car cruise.

Now in its third year, the event will take place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Grand Blanc High School.

“We love bringing events to the community and this one is so well received in downtown Flint that we wanted to bring some of that fun up to Grand Blanc,” said chamber President Leigh LaForest.

“We love it because we get an opportunity to partner with the Back to the Bricks organization and other businesses in the community. And, it enhances what’s already happening in Flint and all along Saginaw Street.”

The first two years, Roll On In was very well received, LaForest said.

“That’s why we are continuing to do it and we want to continue to make it grow each and every year,” she said.

The rolling cruise begins with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. at Factory One, 303 W. Water St. in Flint.

After the ribbon cutting, the parade will commence, making its way along the bricks of Saginaw Street through Burton and into Grand Blanc.

Grand Marshal Victor E. George will lead the procession. George is the former owner of an auto dealership, a U.S. Army veteran and a classic car enthusiast.

Vehicles may join or leave the cruise anywhere along the way, at any time, from 4-9 p.m.

At the Roll On In party, the Grand Blanc City Fire Department will be grilling hot dogs, and Bubblebee Tea and D&W Street Eatery food trucks will be on site.

DJ Spins will provide music and there will be a bounce house so the kids can work off some energy.

“The entertainment is free, but there is a cost for food,” LaForest said.

WJRT TV-12 will broadcast live from the venue, and 103.9 The Fox will have a remote broadcast.

Randy Wise is the presenting sponsor this year, with additional sponsorship provided by Dort Financial Credit Union.

Several local businesses will set up vendor tents, many will have swag and games.

“It’s a family-friendly free event,” LaForest said. “Come in, bring a chair and watch the cars as they come down Saginaw Street and turn around at the high school.”
